The Pyramids of Giza, the sole survivor of the Seven Wonders of the World.

How where they built, and why? Ten thousand workers built the pyramids on the order of the pharaohs. But despite the accepted opinion of slavery, it seems more and more that the pyramids were build from a highly organized workforce of Egyptians farmers. It was like an ancient job-creation scheme: when the annual Nile flood covered the fields of the farmers, they could have been redeployed to work on the pharaoh's tomb.
