Egypt, White Desert
The White desert is a 300-sq-km region near Farafra Oasis in Egypt. There are thousands of surreal rock formations, best viewed at sunrise or sunset, when the sun turns the white rocks into pink and orange colors. The bizarre shapes look like hawks, camels, ostriches - or whatever you can recognize.
If you ever have the chance to watch this scenery under a full moon - don't miss it! The sand is littered with billions of deep black iron pyrites and small fossils.
