Phuket, Nine Emperor Gods Festival
The Nine Emperor Gods Festival or Vegetarian Festival is a nine-day Taoist celebration in primarily Southeast Asian. Phuket in Thailand has the largest festival, but many other cities celebrate the festival as well.
The religious devotees cut themselves with swords or pierce their cheeks with sharp objects. They don't feel any pain because they are possessed by spirits.
