Torres del Paine, Patagonia
Torres del Paine is certainly one of the most beautiful places on earth. The reasons for that are the climate, rough but mild, the incredible variety of the landscape, the mountains and the wonderful blue water, and, the most important point: still only few tourists. Here you can see the Rio Paine and the Torres del Paine.
The main roads in and to the national park are unpaved. Most of the refugios can only be reached by hiking or boat trip. There is the famous 'W' trail, for the complete trail you need 4 or 5 days. The 'W' trail goes from hut to hut, a hut in the national park is called a 'Refugio'.
For the whole round trip around the Torres del Paine you need at least 8 - 10 days. Beware, the whole round trip is a back packing tour with tents and only for experienced hikers. On the north part of the trail you can find small campgrounds but no refugios.
